EMBRYO'S
August 2007.
Here we are again.
In 2007 we selected 63 sporting foals, with qualities at dressage and show jumping.
Also we have two surrogate mares, with pregnancies from genetic superior qualities of sport horses.
I: Johnson x Gribaldi:
Dressage stallion Johnson is combined with a full sister of stallion Painted Black. At the moment Painted Black is at Grand Prix Level under Anky van Grunsven. Earlier this year they won the Grand Prix freestyle in Aken.
II: Carolus II x Cambridge
Granddam Zorinna, combined with stallion Carolus I brought the Olympic Show jumper C.Chap. This Holstein stock 628b brought a series of successful show jumper e.g. the internationals Cocu, Carino and Classic H.
Advantages of horse embryo transfer are:
- Breed annually more foals from one and the same mare.
- Breed embryos/foals from the same mare and different stallions in one year.
- Use two-years-old mares for breeding.
- Get embryos/foals from mares that are still fully active in top-class sport.
Genetically improvement of ET:
There is only future for Embryo Transfer when you use the best mares, from breeding view, and don't use emotions by that. Only the 1% list horses are good enough for ET. Within several years ET is a normal accepted way of breeding. In the begin of Artificial Insemination there were a lot of arguments against it, but now it is completely accepted. For ET it will be the same.
